[Day 3] Springtime in Tokyo: Mt. Fuji Day Tour via Yokoso Japan Tour

Mt. Fuji Day Tour via Yokoso Japan Tour
Tour code : 05550
Tour name : Hakone Ropeway & Pirate Ship, Gotemba Premium Outlet, All-you-can-eat Yakiniku Lunch
Confirmed departrue day : 04 April 2015

I can do a DIY trip to Mt. Fuji, my only worry is the weather. It’s located in a rural area and during cold season, waiting for the bus can be excruciating. So based on my research and computation I guess it’s better to join a group tour.

I searched for day tour trips and found this very affordable promo offer from the Yokoso Japan Tour. This tour code is not yet confirmed though, because they need at least 15 guests before they proceed. Sadly, it didn’t push through, so they offer us 2 tour options with a regular rate. I had no other choice but to get 1 since we are leaving in a few days and don't much have time.

I got the
Hakone Ropeway & Pirate Ship, Gotemba Premium Outlet, All-you-can-eat Yakiniku LunchTour code 05550 for JPY 10,400 price is still reasonable it’s within our budget so ok na din.

Meeting Place: Shinjuku Washington Hotel
Meeting Time: 8:10 AM

We arrived before the scheduled time and met our tour guide at the lobby. Good thing, we already had an ocular visit of the hotel's location. We left the hotel almost 9, the weather is not cooperating and waited for the other guests to arrived.

There are two groups in the bus, they combine the English and Chinese tour groups. Other guide is talking in Chinese and then after, the English guide will.

After more than an hour, we reached the Hakone Port. There is a long line while waiting for the ship, it was drizzling and freezing.

Hakone Pirate Ships, are only replicas and was used as a sightseeing cruise ship at Lake Ashi. But we cannot enjoy the scenery when the weather looks like this. We did not cancel the tour, hoping that there is still a small chance to have a glance of Mt. Fuji.

On board the Hakone Pirate ship we cruise on Ashinoko Lake for about 30 minutes going to the Hakone Ropeway Station at Tokendai Harbour.

I heard from one of the passengers, though not sure that there’s an additional fee if you want to transfer to this section.

Sigh, we really need to go back. It’s very gloomy, we can’t see the beauty of the Lake and Mt. Fuji itself.

Hakone Ropeway Station

A 15 mins. ropeway ride without seeing anything huhu, then off to the next station which is Owakudani.

Owakudani is the area around a crater created during the last eruption of Mount Hakone some 3000 years ago. Today, much of the area is an active volcanic zone where sulphurous fumes, hot springs and hot rivers can be experienced. Additionally, Owakudani has good views of Mount Fuji on clear days. Source:

We were given 50 minutes to explore the valley but most of the time staying at the station give much warmth and comfort because of the chilling and windy weather outside. Feels like winter in spring time.

When you’re in Owakudani, try to look for this black egg. It was said that your life will prolong for seven years when you eat this. Well, whether it’s true or not, there’s no harm in trying and curious at the same time how does it taste like. Well, yeah taste like egg hehe it was cooked in natural hot water and shells were blackened by the sulphur.

Imagining Mt. Fuji as the backdrop.

Not the best Yakiniku but enough to satisfy our cravings.

This trip to Gotemba gives us a little hope when the sun starts to shine. But after an hour the rain started to pour again. Really not a good day, see you next time Mt. Fuji.

Not far from Hakone, Gotemba City is located on the southeastern flank of Mt. Fuji. And Gotemba Premium Outlet is the most popular outlet mall in Japan with over 200 stores.

We just roam around, take pictures and we didn’t shop. Hindi kaya ng budget ang mga branded hehe...

We headed back on the bus while Mars sisters are still enjoying their shopping.

Since we are an hour earlier, we took our time at the nearby parking area with cherry blossom trees.

And non-stop selfies together with our tour guide.

I love DIY’s but I’ll consider Yokoso Japan Tour on our provincial trips next time.

We arrived in Tokyo around 7 in the evening. From Shinjuku Station, we headed to Roppongi to see the line of cherry blossom trees lit up at night.

How to get there:

Direct link from Roppongi Station (Toei Oedo Line), Exit 8.
Direct link via underground passageway from Roppongi Station (Hibiya Line), Exit 4a.
A 3-5 minute walk from Nogizaka Station (Chiyoda Line), Exit 3.

“Midtown Blossom 2015” is a spring event of Tokyo Midtown that runs from March 20 – April 19 and opens from 5 to 11PM. Located at Tokyo Midtown garden.

Illuminated Cherry Blossom trees.

And to cap off the night, we surprised Ate Cel with this very yummy birthday cake from Sun Fruits (free endorsement). The shop is located at the Galleria/B1 of Tokyo Midtown.
