[Day 2] Springtime in Tokyo: The "Kill Bill" Gonpachi Restaurant

If you’re a fan of the movie “Kill Bill” vol.1, I’m sure this place looks familiar. The setting of the fight scene “The Bride vs Gogo and the Crazy 88’s in the movie was inspired from this restaurant. This famous restaurant is popular especially to tourists and it become one of the tourist spot in Tokyo.

How to get there:

Exit 2, Roppongi Station (Hibiya and Oedo Subway Lines)

After checking on some shops in Shibuya we decided to have our dinner here at Gonpachi. So from exit 2 of the station go straight along the street and before you hit the Gaien-Nishi Street, the restaurant is on your right.

Too bad it was weekend so expect a lot of guests. And since we're 5 it's kinda hard to get a seats so it took us almost an hour of waiting. So my advice is go on a weekday as much as possible.

Upon entering, photos of these famous people dined here were hanged on the wall. And as far as I remember, I saw Maroon 5, Sylvester Stallone, Stevie Wonder to name a few.

I must say that I am impressed, It was big, nice and I like the ambience very Japanese. Interiors are made of wood and bamboo, a different kind of feeling though it was loud during that time coz it’s past 9 in the evening. And most of the people were drinking and its’ almost full mostly by tourists well I seldom see locals from the crowd.

They placed us at the second floor, where you have to take off your shoes and  have to seat on the floor. Low table with a sunken floor for your legs.

It’s already 9:30 when we order the food and we are in a hurry coz we have to catch the last train. Since we can’t decide what food to order, we saw this Course Menu at the last page and thought that we can share it. Without understanding and asking, we order this. The waitress knows that we need to leave by 10:30 and she ask again if the order is for 5 and we said yes hehe. #stupidus

We were talking pa naman that we have a lot of budget pa, but when they served the Wagyu Steak we already knew that we have to pay JPY 6,500 each. And when we ask for the bill, we’re not surprised haha. Literally this is the “Kill BILL” restaurant.  Lesson learned, but in fairness most of the food they served was good. We just hope we stayed longer. It is over price but worth a visit.
