040912 South Korea: Jinhae 진해 Cherry Blossoms


A Cherry Blossom is the flower of any several trees of genus Prunus, particularly the Japanese Cherry, Prunus Serrulata, which is sometimes called Sakura after the Japanese.  Many of the varieties that have been cultivated for ornamental use do not produce fruit. (Source: Wikipedia)    


It was awesome seeing the Cherry Blossoms for the first time.  A dream come true for a citizen living in a tropical country, hay how i wish we have Sakura in the Philippines.  Every time we saw a bunch of these cotton candy like is, happiness.

Jinhae is famous for its annual Cherry Blossom festival; the largest and most splendid celebration in Korea will take place from April 1-10 of this year 2012.  Over 2 million visitors from all over the world is expected.  The Jinhae Gunhang festival also commemorates Korea's famous admiral Yi Sun Shin, in the celebration of it's 50th anniversary.
